LORNE SCULPTURE BIENNALE 2018 CURATOR
Lara Nicholls is the curator of the Lorne Sculpture Biennale 2018, Landfall. Lara has a Master of Arts (Art History) from the University of Melbourne and is currently the Assistant Curator, Australian Painting and Sculpture at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra. She has twenty years experience in the visual arts having being a curator and Fine Arts tutor at Trinity College in Melbourne where she wrote the catalogue for the College art collection. She moved across to the business side of the visual arts joining Sotheby's Australia as a Paintings Specialist in 1997. After ten years running a private art consultancy business she then worked for several years as Head of Corporate Collections at Deutscher and Hackett, before joining the NGA. Lara was born in Lorne prior to the family moving to Melbourne where she was educated. Her family has strong links to the region having founded the Arab cafe and the Wild Colonial in the 1950s and her mother still lives in the town where she regularly holidays with her three children.
