pattie beerens - dwell kids nature experiences with pru gell

Saturday, 19 March 2022 - 10am to 10.45am 2-6 years; 11am to 12pm 5-9 years

‘dwell’ will be a shared and collaborative experience of rewilding sculpture – as performance and trace. Multi-dimensional and collaborative, the work will be performed by different artists and performers.

Join Pattie as she creates an evolving, ephemeral work from found materials sourced locally and respectfully in Lorne and surrounds. The space will be converted into one in which the audience will want to dwell – look out to the horizon, close eyes, touch, feel and smell the rawness of the seaside.

Dancer, Thaedra Frangos, a Wemba Wemba and Dhudhuroa woman, will join Pattie over two weekends.  On Saturday 19 March (3pm) visitors will be invited to connect with place through an experiential movement practice – suitable for all.  On Sunday 27 March (10am) visitors can watch or join in as Thaedra responds in dance with ‘dwell’ as it has evolved.

Over two weekends, nature experience guide, Pru Gell will create nature experiences for kids when, with owl eyes, dingo feet and kangaroo ears, they will be invited to sense the nature they are part of and become guides for their adult carers. (10 – 10.45am for 2 - 6 years and 11am – 12 pm for 5 - 9 years)

On the final weekend of ‘dwell’, artist Rory Daniel will project a quiet and meditative video work, produced during the making of ‘dwell’, onto the mattering forms on the beach (Saturday 26th of March at 8pm).

“dwell” will be ongoing from Friday 18 March to Sunday 27 March and more information about on-site times and visitor engagement opportunities can be found at the link below.

Location: Lorne foreshore adjacent to the Swing Bridge.

Dancing, experiencing, weaving, sensing - dwelling.

These events are free.
