Gunther Kopietz

Born in Melbourne in 1963. Obtained a Master of Fine Art in Sculpture from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in 1987. Held teaching positions at RMIT Melbourne, Monash University Caulfield and the National Art School Sydney. Nine solo exhibitions across Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide. Works involved in numerous group shows including The Mildura Sculpture Triennial 1989, Australian Contemporary Art Fair 1990, 1992, Museum Fur Kunst und Gewerbe, Hamburg, Germany (1992), The Wyne Prize in 1992, 1995 and 1997, The National Sculpture Prize and Exhibition, National Gallery of Australia Canberra 2001 and the Deakin University Small Sculpture award 2016. Received the St Kilda Visual Art Festival Award in 1986, The Diamond Valley Art Award in 1989 and work acquired by Maitland Regional Art Gallery 2012.
