Elise Marcianti - Deakin University
Elise Marcianti is a 22-year-old emerging artist from Deakin University whose sculptural works stem from nature and the land. Her book carvings are hand cut page by page mimicking the slow process seen in nature of land formation and captures typographical features using the pages in books. Shes also fascinated with the relationship between people and the land. The piece “beheaded’ puts the process of cutting down trees on a head to symbolise beheading and the pain associated with death which is not often felt for nature.
