Na Djinang Circus - Common Dissonance

Saturday, 26 March 2022 - 6-7pm on The Flat

Common Dissonance is a contemporary circus work exploring the struggle between traditional and modern modes of reasoning.

The performance imbues traditional and contemporary styles of performance with shapes, images, and styles of indigenous performance, rituals, and iconography.

Domenico de Clario - Flowers for Lorne 3

Saturday, 26 March 2022 - 7-8pm

Domenico de Clario's contribution to the Lorne Sculpture Biennale (Spirit of Place) consists of four performances. Three of the performances focus on the enigmatic presence of D. H Lawrence, Mark Twain and Rudyard Kipling in Lorne, during a period spanning the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th.

The fourth performance homages the life and work of Albert Namatjira, and begins at sunset on the full moon evening of March 18. 

Performance Three begins at sunset (7pm) at the Erskine rivermouth: A translation into keyboard sound of Rudyard Kipling’s poem ‘Flowers for Lorne’, written following his visit to Lorne and the Erskine River Falls.

Saturday, 26 March 2022 - 8pm

‘dwell’ will be a shared and collaborative experience of rewilding sculpture – as performance and trace. Multi-dimensional and collaborative, the work will be performed by different artists and performers.

On the final weekend of ‘dwell’, artist Rory Daniel will project a quiet and meditative video work, produced during the making of ‘dwell’, onto the mattering forms on the beach.

With light flowing and ebbing like the tide, the projection will beat to the rhythms of the sea, sand and moon, reflecting on place, trace and the absence of presence.

Spectrum & the Hugh McSpedden experience

Saturday, 26 March 2022 - 8.30pm

Experience the retro feel of the Wild Colonial precinct as Spectrum performs two gigs on-site under the psychedelic projections of Hugh McSpedden. 

A free music and cosmic light show with Mike Rudd and a contemporary iteration of the Spectrum band originally launched in 1969.

At the Wild Colonial Club precinct adjacent to the Lorne Sea Baths.

pattie beerens - dwell kids nature experiences with pru gell

Saturday, 26 March 2022 - 10am to 10.45am 2-6 years; 11am to 12pm 5-9 years

‘dwell’ will be a shared and collaborative experience of rewilding sculpture – as performance and trace. Multi-dimensional and collaborative, the work will be performed by different artists and performers.

Nature experience guide, Pru Gell joins Pattie on-site for children's interactive experience workshops. With owl eyes, dingo feet and kangaroo ears, children and their adults will be encouraged to share the space, listen to stories from Pru and be guided to create with shells, seaweed, vines, clay, bark and leaves – maybe a nest or a home for a real or imagined creature.

Ephemeral art adult's workshop with Caroline Hawkins

Over the past 25 years, Caroline Hawkins has combined her love of the environment with her sculptural artistic practice to produce sculptural works of great beauty and develop workshops in weaving and ephemeral art construction.

Caroline will offer two workshops – one for children and one for adults – on the beautiful grounds of Qdos.

LSB presents Monday Night Music - Night 3

In conjunction with the Monday Night Music crew, Lorne Sculpture presents three Monday Night Music events featuring poets, writers and musicians telling their stories of place. 

Come along to the Lorne Bowling Club on Monday nights, enjoy a beverage and simple meal and some fantastic local artists and performers.

Monday 28th March will feature musicians Watty Thompson and Ella Sweeney.

Spirit of Place Conversations: Lorne Sculpture and its place in the world of Biennales

Stevens Vaughn has participated in several biennales throughout the world. In his engaging and inimitable style, Stevens will reflect on his experiences and the place of the Biennale within the art world.

He will be joined by this year's curator Graeme Wilkie. Graeme will expand upon the new curatorial model 'Spirit of Place'. Graeme will reflect upon this year's success and his hopes for future Lorne Sculpture Biennales.

Ryan F. Kennedy – Ocean Road Precinct finale - 'What it could be?'

Saturday, 02 April 2022 - 7pm

A living memorial, Monument will be an experiential work featuring an orchestration of performance, sculpture, land art, light and sound. 

The finale to MONUMENT, this sunset event culminates and concludes the three-week-long durational performance work.  Artists Ryan F Kennedy and Ben Michael are accompanied by performance artist Lynden Nicholls and musician Gareth Skinner. 

Madder Lake LIVE & the Hugh McSpedden experience
