Ryan F. Kennedy – Ocean Road Precinct - 'What it is'

Saturday, 19 March 2022 - Saturday afternoon starting at 1pm

A living memorial, Monument will be an experiential work featuring an orchestration of performance, sculpture, land art, light and sound. 

The second of MONUMENT’s three stages, this special performance explores the past to present uses / views about the Great Ocean Road. Ryan F Kennedy and Ben Michael are joined by performance artist Lynden Nicholls.

Learn about the cultural tradition of weaving and the different techniques that were passed down to Aunty Bronwyn through her family of traditional weavers and create a colourfully woven pendant and twined necklace.

pattie beerens - dwell experiential movement practice with thaedra frangos

‘dwell’ will be a shared and collaborative experience of rewilding sculpture – as performance and trace. Multi-dimensional and collaborative, the work will be performed by different artists and performers.

Dancer, Thaedra Frangos, a Wemba Wemba and Dhudhuroa woman, will invite visitors to connect with place through an experiential movement practice – suitable for all.

Saturday, 19 March 2022 - 10am to 10.45am 2-6 years; 11am to 12pm 5-9 years

‘dwell’ will be a shared and collaborative experience of rewilding sculpture – as performance and trace. Multi-dimensional and collaborative, the work will be performed by different artists and performers.

Nature experience guide, Pru Gell joins Pattie on-site for children's interactive experience workshops. With owl eyes, dingo feet and kangaroo ears, children and their adults will be encouraged to share the space, listen to stories from Pru and be guided to create with shells, seaweed, vines, clay, bark and leaves – maybe a nest or a home for a real or imagined creature.

Join Pattie daily as she creates an evolving, ephemeral work constructed from found materials sourced locally and respectfully in Lorne and surrounds. The space will be converted into one in which the audience will want to dwell – look out to the horizon, close your eyes, to touch, feel and smell the rawness of the seaside.

Inspired by the Tjanpi Desert Weavers, Aunty Bronwyn will teach you how to sculpture hay with wool to create a Bush Animal with real personality! A light-hearted workshop with a good laugh about all the funky creatures that are being created.

LSB presents Monday Night Music - Night 2

Monday, 21 March 2022 - 6pm til late

In conjunction with the Monday Night Music crew, Lorne Sculpture presents three Monday Night Music events featuring poets, writers and musicians telling their stories of place. 

Come along to the Lorne Bowling Club on Monday nights, enjoy a beverage and simple meal and some fantastic local artists and performers.

Monday 21st March will feature writer Harriet Gaffney, along with musicians Mountain Grey and Brett Clarke.

SculptureSCAPE weekend 2

Friday, 25 March 2022

Over two weekends (19-20 and 26-27 March), 8 artists (4 each weekend) will install an ephemeral sculptural work along the foreshore at the Erskine rivermouth. Sculptors can include performance, or even involve the public in the work’s construction.

Come along and experience artwork that will remain in place for one weekend only. Watch the artists at work, or even participate in the construction itself.

Ephemeral art children's workshop with Caroline Hawkins

Over the past 25 years, Caroline Hawkins has combined her love of the environment with her sculptural artistic practice to produce sculptural works of great beauty and develop workshops in weaving and ephemeral art construction.

Caroline will offer two workshops – one for children and one for adults – on the beautiful grounds of Qdos.
