Sculpture Plus

The Sculpture Plus program features a wide array of events inspired by the theme of Spirit of Place, the 16 precincts and sculpture.

These events will engage audiences with performative and participatory elements that offer additional ways in which to experience the themes of Lorne Sculpture Biennale 2021.

The event program includes musical and theatrical performances to enthral and delight, projections, interesting conversations and workshops for young and old alike.

Lorne Sculpture Instameet 2

Be the envy of all your Instagram followers and join us for a tour of some of the most Insta-worthy vantage points of the Biennale. Tag your socials with #LSB2022 and we’ll re-post the best offerings to our social media feeds. The best post receives a prize.  

Meeting Place Weaving Workshop with Mirrnong Minnie

Learn about the cultural tradition of weaving and the different techniques that were passed down to Aunty Bronwyn through her family of traditional weavers and create a colourfully woven pendant and twined necklace.

Bush Animals - sculpting hay with wool with Mirrnong Minnie

Sunday, 20 March 2022 - 1-4pm Uniting Church Hall

Inspired by the Tjanpi Desert Weavers, Aunty Bronwyn will teach you how to sculpture hay with wool to create a Bush Animal with real personality! A light-hearted workshop with a good laugh about all the funky creatures that are being created.

LSB presents Monday Night Music - Night 2

Monday, 21 March 2022 - 6pm til late

In conjunction with the Monday Night Music crew, Lorne Sculpture presents three Monday Night Music events featuring poets, writers and musicians telling their stories of place. 

Come along to the Lorne Bowling Club on Monday nights, enjoy a beverage and simple meal and some fantastic local artists and performers.

Monday 21st March will feature writer Harriet Gaffney, along with musicians Mountain Grey and Brett Clarke.

'Secrets of Lorne' guided history tours

Based around our precinct themes, members of Lorne Historical Society will take you on an immersive journey on-site and share some of the little-known histories of some significant sites around Lorne.

Ephemeral art children's workshop with Caroline Hawkins

Saturday, 26 March 2022 - 2-3.30pm

Over the past 25 years, Caroline Hawkins has combined her love of the environment with her sculptural artistic practice to produce sculptural works of great beauty and develop workshops in weaving and ephemeral art construction.

Caroline will offer two workshops – one for children and one for adults – on the beautiful grounds of Qdos.

Na Djinang Circus - Common Dissonance

Saturday, 26 March 2022 - 6-7pm on The Flat

Common Dissonance is a contemporary circus work exploring the struggle between traditional and modern modes of reasoning.

The performance imbues traditional and contemporary styles of performance with shapes, images, and styles of indigenous performance, rituals, and iconography.

pattie beerens - dwell (at night) - projection with rory daniel

Saturday, 26 March 2022 - 8pm

‘dwell’ will be a shared and collaborative experience of rewilding sculpture – as performance and trace. Multi-dimensional and collaborative, the work will be performed by different artists and performers.

On the final weekend of ‘dwell’, artist Rory Daniel will project a quiet and meditative video work, produced during the making of ‘dwell’, onto the mattering forms on the beach.

With light flowing and ebbing like the tide, the projection will beat to the rhythms of the sea, sand and moon, reflecting on place, trace and the absence of presence.
